Property Rights of Women: A Case Study of Political Empowerment of Women with Reference To Khasi and Assamese Society

Property right is the permanent guarantor of economic sustenance. Economic assurance and political participation coincide with empowerment women. Being a Matrilineal society, Khasi tribe Meghalaya licenses inheritance to women, while patriarchal system in Assamese Society forbids women acquire property rights. Since previous studies do not exhibit inherent association among right, therefore cornerstone present study show conjoining character these rights further progresses reflecting this interrelation both divergent societies. For purpose ‘qualitative quantitative methods’ have been used ‘comparative analysis’ between Society. The elaboration can be concluded findings that owning provides autonomy which turn helps increase bargaining power. Moreover, also discovers although society enjoy high social status because having privilege yet customary bigotry prejudices limit their participation.
